Mayweather, 38, is known to box and move his way to decision victories, making Marquez predict that the brash American will conveniently opt not to brawl against a dangerous opponent in Pacquiao come fight night.
"Floyd's style and technique has given him 47 wins, so why take a risk in the biggest fight of his career? Floyd is a technical fighter who can make it a boring fight if that suits him," Marquez told ESPN Deportes.
"But I think for me, in terms of the fight, if it can be a quiet fight for Floyd. He's going to take that and look to get a clear decision."
Marquez is not the first fighter to warn that Mayweather would turn the much-awaited showdown into a dull affair. Last month, Pacquiao's former sparring partner Amir Khan cited that Pacquiao-Mayweather may very well not live up to expectations.
"It could be a boring fight if both of them try to box each other. Some people have such high hopes for the fight but it could be boring," Khan told Daily Mail.
"I don't think Manny would try to make it boring but Mayweather would. Four or five years ago it would have been a bigger fight than it is now, it won't be as exciting."
Mayweather's height and reach advantage over Pacquiao would hardly matter, according to Marquez. But in order for Pacquiao to win, he says that the Filipino must be more dynamic inside the ring.
"The height difference was noted [when they were together at the LA press conference], but in these kind of fights height and strength is not a big difference," said Marquez.
"Most importantly is who has the better mind in the fight, who launches their attacks better, and uses their defense better, which Floyd Mayweather know how to do well and Pacquiao must improve on."
